Barnet Council or the council of the London Borough of Barnet is the elected authority governing the borough. The first council was elected in 1964 as a shadow authority under the London Government Act 1963 and came into its powers on 1 April 1965.

The entire council is elected every four years with the most recent election being held on 3rd May 2018. The chairman and civic head of the council is Mayor of Barnet.

2018-2022

The council elected in 2018 consists of 63 councillors, three elected for each of 21 wards. The Conservative Party took control of the council which had been under no overall control since March 2018 following the esignation of one of their councillors.
