Barnet Council or the council of the London Borough of Barnet is the elected authority governing the borough. The first council was elected in 1964 as a shadow authority under the London Government Act 1963 and came into its powers on 1 April 1965.
The entire council is elected every four years with the most recent election being held on 5th May 2022. The chairman and civic head of the council is Mayor of Barnet.

The council elected in 2022 consists of 63 councillors, with two or three elected for each of 23 wards. The Labour Party took control of the council for the first time with 41 seats. The Conservative Party won the remaining 22 seats.
