A former railway station and terminus, opened 1 July 1840, closed 1875 (Passengers); 1964 (Freight).
Sometime terminus of the North London Line and effectively replaced by the nearby Liverpool Street Railway Station.
It was in use from 1840 to 1964 when it was destroyed by fire. Substantial remains lay derelict until they were demolished in 2004 to make way for the new Shoreditch High Street Station
