Blackwall is an area in East London located on the River Thames, and is part of the Port of London.

Blackwall focus point is Blackwall Way, and it is the location of Blackwall Basin, Blackwall Tunnel, the Virginia Settlers Monument and The Gun.

The area takes its name from a historic stretch of riverside wall built along an outside curve of the Thames, to protect the area from flooding. While mostly residential, Blackwall Yard here provides moorings for vessels.

Blackwall has no formal or exact boundaries because it was never an administrative district.

Transport[]

Blacwkwall is served by London Buses, including route 15 to Central London, and also routes D3, D6, D7, D8 and night routes N550 and N551.

The area is connected at Blackwall and East India to the Docklands Light Railway, a light metro system.
