David Walter Chalkley (11 May 1914-3 July 1987) was a Labour Party politician active in the Surrey suburbs of south London.

Educated at a London County Council school and Battersea Polytechnic, Chalkley was an electrical inspector. In 1945 he was elected to Mitcham Borough Council and in 1946 to Surrey County Council. He served as Mayor of Mitcham in 1959-60.

He was subsequently a member of the Greater London Council representing Lewisham from 1964–1967 and 1970–1973; and Deptford from 1973–1981.

He twice stood unsuccessfully for parliament: at Croydon North West in the 1959 general election and at Brentford & Chiswick in 1964.
