Maureen's Pie & Mash, known also as Maureen's Cockney Food Bar,[1] is a café located in Chrisp Street Market in Poplar, serving traditional Pie and Mash.[2]
History
Maureen was born in Poplar and has had her businesses in the area nearly all her life. Starting her shop young with husband Dave in their 20s, they have been cooking pies in various units around Chrisp Street Market ever since. Maureen's son Jason runs the shop now with his wife Karen, who says it "really is a generational thing". Their son now works there too, with other staff also made up of family members. The remaining staff, made up of locals, are also considered part of Maureen's family.[3]
