Created under London Government Act 1899 from parishes of Charterhouse, Clerkenwell, Glasshouse Yard, St Luke and St Sepulchre. The town hall was on Rosebery Avenue, and had previously been the official headquarters of the Clerkenwell Vestry, and had been opened by Lord Rosebery. Amalgamated with the Metropolitan Borough of Islington to form the London Borough of Islington. The archives are in Islington Local History Centre.
